Puli Pair

I can't help but think of them as "the rug dogs," but the Puli, a.k.a. Hungarian Water Dog, is very friendly and, if you catch one sleeping, you can always take a quick nap on it!

Saint Francis Loved them Too!

A message for dog (and other pet) lovers in the Central Ohio area:
There will be a "pet blessing" during the regular 10AM service at Saint Mark's Episcopal Church on Tremont Rd in Upper Arlington on Sunday, 10/1/06. It will be in their sanctuary (so the altar guild may have more to pick up than just communion wafers after the service)!!

This is done each year to celebrate St Francis of Assisi the lover of animals. I will be there with my golden retriever Murphy and hope you and your dog(s)can make it also.

Pass this news along to anyone else who may be interested in attending.

How to Hug a Baby

ATTENTION ALL DOGS!!!
THE FOLLOWING IS IMPORTANT FOR EVERY DOG TO KNOW.

Instructions for properly hugging a baby:

1. First, spy a baby.

2. Second, be sure that the object you spied was indeed a baby by employing classic sniffing techniques. If you smell baby powder and the wonderful aroma of wet diapers this is indeed a baby.

3. Next you will need to flatten the baby before actually beginning the hugging process. **Note: The added slobber should help in future steps by making the "paw slide" easier.

4. The "paw slide" - Simply slide paws around baby and prepare for possible close-up.

5. Finally, if a camera is present, you will need to execute the difficult and patented "hug, smile, and lean" so as to achieve the best photo quality.

Dogs, if done properly, this technique will secure you a warm, dry, climate-controlled environment for the rest of your natural life. Good luck!

(Special thanks to Tricia for forwarding the email that contained this. If these are your photos - please let me know so I can give you credit! And what's the dog's name? Is s/he a Mastiff? Wonderful!)

In? Out?

I love this photo of a Benji-type dog because I can't tell if he's inside looking out or outside looking in. I can't recall who sent it, but many thanks to whoever did.

Back to School

Meet Kelley and Shirra. They're at their first day of school in New Albany, Ohio. Kelly, a guidance counselor, and Shirra, a yellow labrador, counsel children having emotional problems. Shirra and one student would lie side by side during lectures while the student rested his head on Shirra's back. He's a cuddler. Shirra was trained at Canine Companions for Independence in Delaware, Ohio.
